Loveland is a popular destination for elopements and weddings. Who wouldn't want to get married in The City of Love? After all, we are America's Sweetheart City, and a wedding in Loveland is likely to result in a happy and love-filled marriage. Add to this our spectacular scenery and our proximity to an ideal honeymoon getaway in Rocky Mountain National Park, and you'll soon realize there's really no better place for lovers.
Before the Wedding
You need to obtain a marriage license within 30 days prior to the wedding. It costs $30, and is only valid for 30 days. A license can be obtained from any of the 3 Larimer County Clerk and Recorder's Offices, although if you get it at the Loveland office your marriage will have "The Sweetheart City" included on it. The license may be applied for online, but the bride and groom must still appear at the Clerk and Recorder's Office to sign and obtain it.
The bride and groom must both be 18 years old or older (16-17 with parental consent), legally single (divorces must be final), and male/female partners. Same sex marriages are not recognized by the State of Colorado. Blood tests are not required.
- Legal requirements, licensing information and the online application may be found on the Larimer County website.
Couples may solemnize their own marriage, or they may be married by judges, retired judges, magistrates, Indian tribe officials and clergy. We have churches for nearly all major denominations, and several local wedding officiants available as well. The bride and groom must sign the marriage certificate, and the person solemnizing the marriage must complete the marriage certificate and return it to the Larimer County Clerk and Recorder's Office within 60 days.
Where to Get Married
Loveland has more than two dozen churches in town, some of them quite beautiful. We also offer numerous hotels to accommodate larger weddings, and bed and breakfasts to host more intimate elopements. Guest ranches offer a unique wedding environment, and our parks offer specatcular scenic locations for an outdoor wedding. Our 300+ days of sunshine make it easy to plan an outdoor wedding here.
