Loveland is a haven for artists and those who appreciate art. Driving around town you'll see many bronze sculptures by local and internationally-acclaimed sculptors, but that's not all. "A City with HeART" is a program sponsored by Engaging Loveland, Inc., which selects artists each year to create a work of art out of a 3 dimensional heart, then places them around town. The city selects artists to paint transformer boxes. Several organizations place art in public places, downtown, the Benson Sculpture Park, and more locations. Here are a few highlights any art-lover should take in while visiting Loveland.
Begin the day with a stroll through Benson Sculpture Park. Voted as Loveland's #1 place to take out of town visitors, Benson is a beautiful garden park that houses over 130 pieces of artwork on permanent display. A paved walk approximately 1 mile in length circles the park. If you don't do anything else in Loveland, be sure to stop by here.
After the park, stop by Columbine Gallery, just a short walk or drive south on Taft. The exclusive representative of the National Sculptors Guild, the gallery showcases work of a variety of artists working a variety of media.
One of Loveland's unique offerings is we house three bronze foundries: the artists behind the artists, who turn the clay masterpiece into bronze. Two foundries (Art Castings of Loveland and Bronze Services of Loveland) offer tours, demonstrating the process. Both require advance reservations, so please be sure to call ahead of time.
Top off your afternoon with a stroll through downtown Loveland where there are many unique art galleries and shops.
